The Néouvielle reserve

Camping near the Néouvielle reserve

A national park, the Néouvielle nature reserve is a high-mountain territory at the center of the Pyrenees chain, located in the Aure valley near your Le Ruisseau campsite. Its altitude ranges from 1,800 m to 3,091 m, yet it enjoys a warm, dry microclimate thanks to the protection of a ridge and its south-facing aspect.

Its landscapes are characterized by flat-bottomed cirques, lakes and rocky granite ridges, revealed by a colorful mosaic of rhododendron moorland and pine groves appreciated by a multitude of birds, unique in the Hautes Pyrénées. Lake peat bogs, a paradise for species endemic to the Pyrenees, home to spaignes and droseras, complete the landscape with their red leaves.
